Sister Sadie is an all-female bluegrass band based in Nashville, Tennessee, formed in 2012 out of what was meant to be a single night at the Station Inn. The original lineup brought together five established players - fiddler Deanie Richardson, banjo player Gena Britt, Tina Adair, Dale Ann Bradley and Beth Lawrence - and the one-off booking turned into a working band. Richardson and Britt remain; the current six-piece adds Jaelee Roberts and Dani Flowers on guitar and vocals, Rainy Miatke on mandolin and vocals, and Katie Blomarz-Kimball on bass. The group's self-titled debut appeared on Pinecastle Records in 2016, followed by Sister Sadie II in 2018 on the same label, then No Fear in 2024 and All Will Be Well in 2025, both for Mountain Home Music Company. The band won the International Bluegrass Music Association's vocal group of the year award three years running, from 2019 through 2021, and in 2020 became the first all-female band named IBMA entertainer of the year. It has also received two Grammy nominations for best bluegrass album. The music sits close to traditional bluegrass instrumentation but is built around stacked lead and harmony singing, the strength the vocal group awards recognized, and the band draws material from country and folk as well as the bluegrass canon.
