The Shootouts

The Shootouts are an Americana and honky-tonk band from Akron, in northeast Ohio. The group is fronted by singer and guitarist Ryan Humbert and fills out with Brian Poston on lead guitar, Emily Bates on backing vocals, Erin Vaughn on bass and Mark Butto on drums. Their debut, Quick Draw, appeared in 2019, followed by Bullseye in 2021, produced by BR5-49 co-founder Chuck Mead. Stampede arrived in 2023 with Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel co-producing alongside Sam Seifert, and Switchback followed in 2025, produced by Dan Knobler and released on Transoceanic Records. Guests across the records include Marty Stuart, Vince Gill, Rodney Crowell, Sam Bush, harmonica player Mickey Raphael and Lindsay Lou. The band made its Grand Ole Opry debut in February 2023 and had played the Opry seven times by the end of 2024; it made its Ryman Auditorium debut on January 4, 2025, on an Opry at the Ryman bill tied to the Opry's hundredth year. Stage outfits made for the band by Jen Boyne of J. Boyne Western Wear went on display in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Cleveland Rocks exhibit beginning in April 2024. The Shootouts have been nominated three times for Best Honky-Tonk Group at the Ameripolitan Music Awards, in 2020, 2023 and 2024. The band tours nationally from its northeast Ohio base and keeps its catalog available directly through Bandcamp.
