Kathy Mattea is an American country and folk singer, born in South Charleston, West Virginia and raised in Cross Lanes, whose later work draws heavily on bluegrass, Celtic and Appalachian music. Signed to Mercury Records in 1983, she charted four number-one country singles including Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses, won two Grammy Awards, and has hosted NPR's Mountain Stage since 2021.
