Silverada

americana · roots · rock

Silverada is a neotraditional country and Americana band based in Austin, Texas, formed in 2007 by singer-songwriter Mike Harmeier and known as Mike and the Moonpies until January 2024. Harmeier has said he weighed a name change for more than a decade and considered over two hundred options before settling on Silverada, which arrived alongside the group's self-titled 2024 album. The lineup is Harmeier on lead vocals and guitar, Catlin Rutherford on lead guitar, Omar Oyoque on bass and Taylor Englert on drums. Rutherford joined in 2009 after folding his previous band The Doolins, while Oyoque came aboard in 2018 and Englert in 2022; pedal steel player Zachary Moulton was a member from 2009 to 2025. The band's albums, issued on its own Prairie Rose Records, run from The Real Country (2010) and Hard Way (2012) through Mockingbird (2015), Steak Night at the Prairie Rose (2018), Cheap Silver & Solid Country Gold (2019), Touch of You: The Lost Songs of Gary Stewart (2020), One to Grow On (2021), Silverada (2024) and Texas 42 (2025). Steak Night at the Prairie Rose reached number 22 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart, and Cheap Silver & Solid Country Gold was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, an unusual setting for a honky-tonk record. The group made its Grand Ole Opry debut on September 6, 2022. It tours steadily in the United States and Europe, with recent runs including a 2023 European tour, the 2024 Roadshow Tour and the 2025 Unlit Matches dates, and works a repertoire that leans on dancehall shuffles, pedal-steel ballads and long sets built for Texas honky-tonks.
