Orca
indie rock · alternative rock · rock
Orca is an indie and dream pop project from San Antonio, Texas, whose songs are written by Daniel Galloway and Mylena Velasquez. The music is tagged across alternative, indie pop, Latin indie and soft indie, and much of it has been assembled remotely, with the two trading demos back and forth. The first release, Sirens, appeared in July 2024. The seven-song Ladybird followed on May 2, 2025 through Open Records, written by Galloway and Velasquez, produced by the duo, and turning on romance and emotional vulnerability. The EP Soren was released April 8, 2026; the pair describe it as being about attachment and the difficulty of letting someone go even when parting is better for both, and made it during a period of upheaval in which Velasquez was starting college and moving while both were working through past relationships. In 2026 Orca is on the road supporting Love Spells on the Love Is The Law North American tour, a 22-date run from September 12 to October 17 that takes in Phoenix, Dallas, Austin, New York, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Seattle and Los Angeles, with the Denver stop at Globe Hall.
