Houseplant

Houseplant is a Louisville, Kentucky band whose music blends improvisation, indie rock songwriting, psychedelic textures and groove-driven rhythms. It formed in 2020, during pandemic isolation, around Tavis Conley and Tommy Arnspiger, and has since grown into a five-piece: Conley on vocals and mandolin, Chris Rodahaffer, known as Roadie, on guitar and vocals, Sam Richardson on keys and vocals, Arnspiger on bass and Ben Atkind on drums. Richardson had been sitting in from late 2024 before joining formally. Atkind, a Berklee-trained Massachusetts drummer who co-founded Goose in 2014 and left that band in December 2023, played a run of dates as a special guest before being announced as Houseplant's drummer in April 2025; Conley credited the change with taking the band's jams to a new level. Atkind also founded ElephantProof and has played with DJ Williams and Ari Joshua. Releases include Acetone and Explorations No. 1: The Opal Sun, with the more recent single You (and Yourself). The band describes its approach as balancing structure and exploration, building emotionally direct songs and then stretching them through open-ended collective improvisation on stage, and it publishes soundboard recordings of individual shows through Bandcamp and streams performances on nugs.net. Booking is handled by David Limentani at Mint Talent Group and management by Colleen Conley. Documented 2026 dates include Headliners Music Hall in Louisville, HI-FI in Indianapolis, Baltimore Soundstage, Ardmore Music Hall outside Philadelphia, The Depot in Jeffersonville, Indiana and the Dark Star Jubilee festival at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio.
