ZenDog

Tribute to Grateful Dead

ZenDog is a Grateful Dead tribute band based in suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The group plays two-set shows drawn from the Grateful Dead catalogue and related psychedelic rock material, and works in the segued sequences the source band favored: a recent second set ran Estimated Prophet into Eyes of the World into The Wheel into Morning Dew, while first sets have opened with Cold Rain and Snow and paired Me and My Uncle with Big River. Shakedown Street, Jack Straw, Dire Wolf and Sugar Magnolia recur across recent nights, and the band occasionally steps outside the catalogue for period material such as Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit, or hands part of a set to guests, as when performers billed as SeaCreatures joined for a rendition of Seastones. ZenDog appears regularly at 118 North in Wayne and at breweries and taprooms around the Philadelphia region, among them Bucks County Brewery in Pipersville, Troubles End Brewing in Collegeville and Shere-e-Punjab in Media. The band publishes its setlists and gig posters on its own site and archives recordings of its shows on the Internet Archive and YouTube.
