William Hinson

William Hinson is a solo musician, songwriter and producer from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, whose recordings sit between bedroom pop, indie rock and electronic production. His catalog opens with the three-volume Elevator Music EP series. Volume 1 arrived in March 2017 after sessions cut between August 2016 and February 2017 at the 003 studio in Asheville, with Hinson sharing production and composition credit with Blaine Pugh and Will Younts playing drums; Volume 2 followed in September 2017, and Volume 3 in March 2018, the latter including Take My Time, a collaboration with fellow North Carolina singer Sonny Miles. Each volume runs five tracks and less than sixteen minutes. The album Everything Will Be Okay, Pt. 1 appeared in October 2019, written, produced and mixed by Hinson at 7074 in Clemmons and 003 in Asheville and mastered by Joseph Keenan. It brings in guest players across songs including Proximity, Help!, I Can't Think for Myself, Self Love and Ireland: Sonny Miles and Elijah Whitlow on drums, Ray Damron on horns and Olivia Hinson on backing vocals. A 2024 live album, Live! At the Flat Iron, documents the material on stage. All of the releases are self-issued through Bandcamp, where Hinson tags them as electronic, indie pop and singer-songwriter work rather than as rock. He works regularly as a supporting act on tour, including a Boulder, Colorado date at the Velvet Elk Lounge opening for the Nashville indie-pop songwriter Marielle Kraft.
