What Would Jerry Do? A Tribute to The Grateful Dead

Tribute to The Grateful Dead

What Would Jerry Do? is a Grateful Dead tribute band based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It began in 2019 as a one-off show marking the death of Dead lyricist Robert Hunter and grew into a monthly Lancaster residency called Steal Your Sunday, which the band has now kept up for roughly six years. From that base it has expanded to public and private dates across Pennsylvania, including club bookings such as 118 North in Wayne. The lineup is Matt Hosttetter, Josh Kanusky, Tuck Ryan, Caden Myers, Jake Joyce and Nate Young. The repertoire draws on both the Grateful Dead and the Jerry Garcia Band, with what the band itself calls the occasional non-Dead curveball. The group has not issued studio recordings and documents itself instead through live video from its own shows, among them a June 2025 performance of Samson and Delilah posted on its website, and through the email address it uses for booking. It works as a regional act rather than a touring one, with its calendar concentrated in south-central Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia suburbs.
