Two Runner

Two Runner is an old-time and bluegrass project from Nevada City, California, built around Paige Anderson and long associated with fiddler Emilie Rose. The two were neighbors in the Sierra Nevada foothills and began playing together in the fall of 2020, performing with clawhammer banjo, flatpicking guitar, fiddle and close vocal harmony drawn from Appalachian and American roots traditions. Both came to the partnership with long apprenticeships: Anderson started touring at age nine in the six-piece family group Anderson Family Bluegrass and later the sibling band The Fearless Kin, while Rose was raised on Celtic fiddle and led the trio The String Sisters for a decade in the same foothills. Their debut album, Modern Cowboy, was released in March 2023 and established the spare, hard-driving two-voice sound the band became known for. Porchlight, their second album, is released on Gar Hole Records on August 28, 2026; it was recorded and engineered by Oz Fritz at High Velocity Sound Engineering in Nevada City and produced by Fritz with Anderson and Rose. The record is fuller than its predecessor, adding string arrangements and a rhythm section, with Lucas Lawson on bass and Daniel Young on drums joining the touring band, and Anderson has framed it as a record about transition and about parting ways with a longtime musical partner. Singles from it include Strawberry Rhinestone, whose video was directed by Mike Vanata of Western AF, Roadrunner and Little Ones. Two Runner has opened for Sierra Ferrell, Watchhouse and Molly Tuttle, and its 2026 touring includes AmericanaFest in Nashville, United States headline dates through the autumn, and United Kingdom and Ireland shows supporting Alela Diane.
