Tōth is the solo project of Alex Toth, a Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer who plays trumpet and guitar. Toth is also a co-founder of Rubblebucket, which he formed with Annakalmia Traver after the two met as music majors at the University of Vermont and began playing together in 2007; he has additionally written and collaborated with Kimbra, Caroline Rose and Alexander F. His solo catalog opens with Practice Magic and Seek Professional Help When Necessary, followed by Habit Creature, released 6 November 2020 on Northern Spy Records, an album he has described as being about waking out of destructive and apathetic default modes, and whose title track takes cues from Arthur Russell's pop writing. You And Me And Everything and the DEATH EP followed. His most recent album, And The Voice Said, was released 27 February 2026 jointly by Northern Spy and Egghunt Records. Recorded in Brooklyn and Los Angeles across eleven tracks, it was co-produced by Toth with Caroline Rose, mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer and mastered by Dave Cooley. Kimbra sings on one track; Rose contributes harmony vocals throughout and lead vocals on several songs, with Will Graefe on guitar solos, Aaron Roche on additional guitar and ambience and Kosta Galanopolous on drums, bass and keyboards. Toth has characterized the record as a self-questioning album about surviving yourself, written out of his own recovery. Singles around it include Touching, featuring Kimbra, and Spiraling, both from 2025, and a 2026 live version of Easy recorded with the Brooklyn Choir Project. He appears at Globe Hall in Denver.
