Tony Trischka is a five-string banjo player born in 1949 in Syracuse, New York, widely credited with pioneering the chromatic banjo style and helping shape the newgrass movement. He has played in Country Cooking, Skyline, Psychograss and the Wayfaring Strangers, released albums including Bluegrass Light and Double Banjo Bluegrass Spectacular, and was named IBMA Banjo Player of the Year in 2007.
