Token is an American rapper, singer and producer, born Benjamin David Goldberg on September 24, 1998, and raised in Marblehead, Massachusetts, north of Boston. He began posting music to YouTube at fourteen and self-released his first mixtape, The Mindstate, in February 2014. His 2015 video No Sucka MCs drew half a million views in three days and brought attention from Mark Wahlberg, who became an early mentor, and an April 2016 freestyle on the radio show Sway in the Morning circulated widely and established his reputation for dense internal rhyme and rapid delivery. He self-released Eraser Shavings in 2016 and Between Somewhere in 2018, the latter featuring IDK and Bas, and started touring in 2016 with a run of European dates. In 2020 he signed a distribution deal with Atlantic Records and founded his own label, Never Too Different, which issued his first studio album, Pink Is Better, in January 2022. The EP Knot collected his 2023 singles, and I'm Not Supposed to Be Here followed in June 2025 with guest turns from Tech N9ne, Ren, Marco Plus and Terror Reid. His most recent album, I'm Leaving Soon, was released on Never Too Different in July 2026. He has also recorded alongside Rico Nasty, Lil Skies and J.I.D. Token remains an independent artist working through his own label, and he headlines club rooms on tour, including Larimer Lounge in Denver.
