Thrown is a nu-metalcore band from Stockholm, Sweden, formed in 2019 when vocalist Marcus Lundqvist and guitarist Andreas Malm approached Buster Odeholm, the drummer of Vildhjarta and multi-instrumentalist of Humanity's Last Breath, about producing them. Odeholm took the drum stool as well, and guitarist Johan Liljeblad completed the quartet; Odeholm also plays bass on the studio recordings and produces the band's material, which gives the records the compressed, low-tuned weight associated with his other work. Signed to the German label Arising Empire, the band released the EP Extended Pain in 2022 and its debut album, Excessive Guilt, on August 30, 2024. The album runs eleven tracks in just over twenty minutes, among them guilt, backfire, on the verge, bitter friend, nights, look at me, dislike, ignored, bloodsucker, vent and so done, and folds subtle electronic textures into a mix of metalcore, beatdown hardcore and nu metal. The band won best breakthrough live artist at the 2024 Heavy Music Awards, where it was also nominated for best international breakthrough artist, and took best breakthrough album at the 2025 awards. It has toured with Counterparts, Invent Animate, Fit for a King and While She Sleeps, and supported Knocked Loose, Architects and August Burns Red, alongside festival appearances including Bloodstock in 2025 and Sweden Rock. Its own European and UK headline dates include a Stockholm show at Fallan in November 2026.
