Thesaurus Rex

Thesaurus Rex is an indie rock band based in Brooklyn, New York, active since 2021. The group calls itself a conceptual indie rock band and sums up its remit as playing silly songs but also songs that are not silly. Its music comes out through Bandcamp and the major streaming services and includes the singles Buy Your Time, Excommunicated, Wristwatch, The Bachelor's Wife and The Way You Look at Me, alongside a collection titled Greatest Hits that the band has pressed as a double LP. The band's published self-description is deliberately spare, foregrounding the fact that it is a rock band that plays live over any studio identity. Its 2026 Out of Office Tour opened at the Bowery Ballroom in New York in July and ran through September with dates at the Middle East Upstairs in Boston, Higher Ground in Burlington, Vermont, the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, the Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids, Schubas in Chicago, Zhora Darling in Minneapolis, Gamma Ray in Madison, The Tally in Normal, Illinois, Woodland Tavern in Columbus, Manny's in State College, Comet Ping Pong in Washington, D.C., and MilkBoy in Philadelphia.
