The United States Marine Band

The United States Marine Band is the premier band of the United States Marine Corps, established by act of Congress in 1798 and the oldest of the U.S. military bands. Known as The President's Own since 1801, it is based at Marine Barracks in Washington, D.C., and performs at presidential inaugurations, state funerals and state ceremonies. The band tours the country each October and November, a tradition begun in 1891 under John Philip Sousa.
