The Two Tracks

The Two Tracks are an Americana band based in Sheridan, Wyoming, on the eastern slope of the Bighorn Mountains, playing country-rock and folk shaded by bluegrass and rock. The group is led by the husband-and-wife pair Dave Huebner, who plays guitar and cello, and Julie Huebner on guitar, with Taylor Phillips on bass and Fernando Serna on drums. Four-part harmony and Dave Huebner's classically trained cello are the two elements that most distinguish the arrangements from standard Americana instrumentation. The band has released five records over roughly a decade: a self-titled debut in 2016, Postcard Town in 2017, Cheers to Solitude in 2020, It's a Complicated Life in 2023 and Seasons Unknown in 2026. The later albums were cut in Nashville with the Grammy-nominated producer Will Kimbrough, engineer Sean Sullivan and mixer Trina Shoemaker. Cheers to Solitude reached the top forty of the Americana radio chart and Seasons Unknown the top fifty. The band has twice received a Wyoming Arts Council Performing Arts Fellowship, in 2022 and 2024, and has played Americanafest, the Kate Wolf Memorial Music Festival and Red Ants Pants, as well as dates as far afield as the World Expo in Dubai. Reviewers have characterised the writing as thoughtful and literate, and the band leans on the emptiness of its home state, which it notes has more pronghorn than people, as recurring subject matter.
