The Lollygags

pop rock · indie rock · rock

The Lollygags is a Denver power-pop rock band founded in 2012 by Jon Snyder, who sings and plays guitar. After an initial run through the 2010s the group went quiet for more than five years before returning to playing live and recording. Its releases are built around short, hook-driven rock songs and a recurring three-part format. Old, New, Borrowed, released in April 2020, pairs an older Lollygags song about a homeless man in Denver with a new original and a cover of a Jonathan Richman composition; the sessions used a rotating cast of Denver players, with Ryk Bonus and Todd Divel on bass, Peter Higgins, Michael Elmer and Nate Barnes splitting drums, David Myers on lead guitar and Jimmy Nassi and Divel on organ. Old New Borrowed, II followed in November 2025 and repeats the structure with a re-recorded older track, a new original and another cover, which the band frames as a statement of where it has been and where it is going. In July 2026 the group put out 2014-2019, a retrospective collecting material from its first period. The band describes the current phase as unpretentious power-pop fury and has been booking Denver dates around it, including a show at Larimer Lounge with Folded Face and Curt Claudio. Recordings and merchandise are distributed through the band's Bandcamp page rather than a label.
