The Local Honeys

The Local Honeys is a Kentucky duo of Linda Jean Stokley and Montana Hobbs who perform traditional Appalachian material alongside their own old-time, bluegrass and country songs. Their debut album, Little Girls Actin' Like Men, was produced by the pair themselves and engineered by Rickey Wasson in Clay City, Kentucky, and released in May 2016. A second album, The Gospel, arrived in 2019, preceded and followed by the singles Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven, First Church of God and a seasonal one-off, Christmas Ain't Like Christmas Anymore. The duo issued the standalone singles Dying to Make a Living and Octavia Triangle in February 2021, then a self-titled third album in 2022, which is sold on vinyl and CD through La Honda Records; the label's roster also includes Colter Wall, Vincent Neil Emerson, Riddy Arman and Noeline Hofmann. More recent singles include Darlin' Don't You Know That's Wrong and The Space Girl's Song, both released in May 2025, and Sorry You're Sick, which came out in January 2026 and is the song the duo currently leads with on its own website. Stokley and Hobbs describe what they do simply as traditional and original music from Kentucky, and the material is presented acoustically, with the two trading lead vocals and harmony. They tour widely outside the state, including listening rooms in the Southeast such as Songbirds in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
