The Kody Norris Show

bluegrass

The Kody Norris Show is a bluegrass band from Mountain City, Tennessee, fronted by mandolinist and singer Kody Norris alongside fiddler Mary Rachel Nalley-Norris, with Charlie Lowman and, more recently, teenage addition Jim Hensley completing the group. The band presents traditional bluegrass with a deliberately retro stage manner, performing in rhinestone suits and fringe and working comedy and old-time showmanship into the set between instrumental numbers. It records for Rebel Records, and its albums include When I Get the Money Made (2017), All Suited Up (2019), Rhinestone Revival and Highfalutin Hillbilly. When I Get the Money Made was named Bluegrass Album of the Year by the National Traditional Country Music Association. The group holds the SPBGMA Entertainers of the Year title, made its Grand Ole Opry debut in 2023 on an invitation from Rhonda Vincent and has returned to the Opry stage since, and is represented by an exhibit at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky. Beyond the bluegrass festival circuit it has played the University of Chicago Folk Festival and appeared on television on RFD-TV's Cumberland Highlanders, Fox & Friends Weekend and TBN's Huckabee. It appears at the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia.
