The Cody Sisters

The Cody Sisters are a Colorado bluegrass, folk and Americana band led by sisters Maddie Cody, who plays banjo and guitar, writes and sings, and Megan Cody, who plays mandolin and guitar and sings. The two began performing together at ages six and eight, raised inside Colorado's folk and bluegrass festival circuit; their father played bass in the original band. Will Pavilonis, on upright bass and vocals, joined in 2020 after meeting Megan in a college dormitory, and his arrival broadened both the arrangements and the songwriting. A self-titled EP in 2023 marked that shift, and All the Quiet People followed in 2024, recorded at Vermillion Studios with producer Mike Robinson and engineer Eric Wiggs; the sisters describe it as a coming-of-age record made jointly rather than as two separate accounts. Their material draws on personal experience and on fiction, with Maddie citing the writer Ocean Vuong as an influence on how she approaches a lyric. The group's stated aim is that listeners hear their own stories reflected back regardless of who they are. Musically the trio works close sibling harmony over old-time and traditional bluegrass forms, a range Westword has credited to years spent inside the state's festival culture rather than to formal training. The band has toured across the United States and Europe and has played festivals including RockyGrass in Lyons, Colorado, alongside club dates such as The Grey Eagle in Asheville, North Carolina.
