The Bros. Landreth

alternative country · pop

The Bros. Landreth are a Canadian roots and alternative country band from Winnipeg, Manitoba, formed in 2013 around brothers Joey and David Landreth, sons of the Winnipeg musician Wally Landreth. Joey sings and plays guitar, David sings and plays bass, and the pair build their sound on slide guitar, close family harmony and Americana-leaning songwriting; the original lineup also included Alex Campbell on piano and Ryan Voth on drums, and Ariel Posen was among the players who filled the group out on the road. Their debut album Let It Lie appeared independently in 2013 and was reissued by Slate Creek Records in January 2015. It won the 2015 Juno Award for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year - Group, a year after the band took New/Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2014 Canadian Folk Music Awards. The album 87 followed in 2019, and the catalogue since has grown to include a tenth-anniversary acoustic edition of Let It Lie, the collaborative Something New, Something Blue with Mariel Buckley, and several live sets. Bonnie Raitt's cover of their song Made Up Mind won the 2023 Grammy Award for Best Americana Performance, and Raitt sings on two tracks of the band's album Dog Ear, released November 14, 2025 on Birthday Cake Records. Dog Ear was produced by Murray Pulver with Joey and David Landreth and drummer Roman Clarke, who plays and sings on the record and shares the writing credit on all eleven songs, with Jonathan Singleton added as co-writer on I'll Drive. The album also features Glenn Patscha on keyboards, string arrangements by Ben Plotnick with cello by Kaitlyn Raitz, additional guitar from Pulver, and a guest vocal from the Winnipeg singer Begonia. It was mixed by Joseph Lorge and mastered by Joao Carvalho.
