The Band Solstice
indie rock · folk rock
The Band Solstice is an indie rock quintet from Knoxville, Tennessee, formed on the summer solstice of 2019 by five childhood friends who were still in high school at the time: Marty Gee, Grayson Strader, Jackson Frazier, Maddox Frazier and Jacob Greene. The band pairs folk-rock roots with contemporary indie arrangements and cites Kings of Leon, Dawes, Mt. Joy and Coldplay as reference points. Its debut single, Stay Awhile, arrived in 2022, followed by St. California in 2024 and a run of 2025 singles including Crashout, Overpass and Tides plus the Petrichor EP; the single Mile Dive was picked up by Spotify's Fresh Finds Indie playlist. A self-titled debut album followed in early 2026, trailed by the singles Walls Down and Paper Kites. The group launched the Mile Dive Tour in 2024 and has toured North America regularly since, opening for Quinn XCII, Sun Room, WILLIS and The Stews, selling out its first headline show, and playing Knoxville's Bijou Theatre. It now works club and small-theatre rooms on the southeastern and Appalachian circuit, including The Burl in Lexington and the Grey Eagle in Asheville.
