Solar Circuit

jam band · electronic rock · electro

Solar Circuit is a jamtronica quartet from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, made up of Becca LeVan on keys, synths and vocals, Taylor Jamison on bass and vocals, Nick Orlove on guitar and Rob Fray on drums. The band pairs long-form live improvisation with trance, eurodance and electropop production, citing the Disco Biscuits, STS9, Lotus and Phish as reference points and describing its own approach as jamtronic fusion. Its debut album, One Around the Sun, appeared in 2017. Pulling at the Source followed on August 27, 2021, a ten-track record including Nimbus, Pryzm and The Dance Floor is Lava, recorded at the band's own Solar Circuit Studios in Flourtown, Pennsylvania, mixed by LeVan and mastered by Anthony Thogmartin. A reworked version of the early song Nectar, retitled Nektar, arrived in July 2022, and the four-track EP Controlled Chaos, mastered by Jesse Miller, came out on December 29, 2023; a more recent studio single, Hold On Tight, continues the run. The group posts its live soundboards through Bandcamp and Nugs.net, with archived shows from rooms including Johnny Brenda's, Milkboy and Brooklyn Bowl in Philadelphia, the 8x10 in Baltimore, Madison Live in Covington, Kentucky and the Caverns in Pelham, Tennessee. Festival appearances include Elements, Domefest, Beardfest, Mountain Music Festival, Summerdance, The Big What? and Subterranea at the Caverns, and the band has shared bills with Lotus, Papadosio, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Dopapod, Spafford, TAUK and Andy Frasco. It also curates its own recurring festival, Strange Soiree, produced with Hog Wild Productions at Morgan Creek Farms in Quakertown, Pennsylvania; the fourth edition ran over two nights in September 2025 and featured Marc Brownstein and Jon Gutwillig of the Disco Biscuits.
