SIN BANDERA

Sin Bandera is a Latin pop duo formed in Mexico City in 2000 by Mexican singer-songwriter Leonel Garcia and Argentine singer and pianist Noel Schajris. The name dates to a drive past Campo Marte, the city's military equestrian grounds, where the pair noticed the flagpole standing without its flag. Their self-titled debut album was released on November 20, 2001 and won the Latin Grammy for best pop album by a duo or group with vocals in 2002. De Viaje followed in 2003 and placed three songs at number one in Mexico, a feat Spanish-language Wikipedia notes only RBD and Shakira have matched, and Manana in 2005, which includes a duet with Laura Pausini, and Pasado in 2006 continued a catalogue built on romantic ballads. The duo announced its separation on June 25, 2007, with Garcia stating that internal conflict was not the cause, and both men pursued solo careers for the better part of a decade. They reunited in November 2015 for a tour billed Una Ultima Vez and an album of the same name in 2016, released the single Ahora Se in 2021 and the album Frecuencia in 2022. A further album, Escenas, is set for 2026 with an accompanying tour that reaches arenas in the United States. Sin Bandera has won the Latin Grammy for best pop vocal group album twice and has also been recognized by MTV Latino.
