Runaway Gin is a Phish tribute band formed in 2014 and based in the Charleston, South Carolina area, with members drawn from across the Carolinas. The lineup pairs guitarist and vocalist Andy Greenberg, originally from Florence, South Carolina, with keyboardist Jennifer Reiser of Greensboro, North Carolina, bassist David 'DKat' Katilius of Greenville, South Carolina, and drummer Curtis Wingfield, based in Charlotte. Rather than reproducing particular Phish concerts note for note, the band treats the catalog the way its source does, improvising through and between songs so that no two performances follow the same path. Greenberg's history with the material predates the group: he hosted a Sunday Phunday residency at the Charleston Pour House from 2012 to 2017. Runaway Gin has since played more than 555 shows, working steadily through the Southeast and beyond at rooms including the Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago, the NorVa, the National, Jannus Live and the Georgia Theatre, and at festivals such as Rooster Walk, Resonance, Woodlands, Hidden in the Hollow and Nextival, where the band has headlined. It has twice been voted Best Phish Tribute in the World and was named Charleston Jam Band of the Year in 2022.
