Roll Cage Mary
Roll Cage Mary is a folk act from the hills of Arkansas, born and raised on the Arkansas-Oklahoma border, whose music draws on the folk, blues and country traditions of the region. The project labels its own sound Arklahoma homegrown folk and names John Prine, Mississippi John Hurt and Johnny Cash as its touchstones, a lineage that points toward acoustic, narrative songwriting rather than a full band arrangement. Its recordings are self-released through Bandcamp and streaming services and are mostly singles, among them Ozark Howler, Autumn Moon, Golden Girls, Hell On The Border, Bubblegum Cowboy, Banks, Unbound, Faith and Wispy Wills, No Less No More, Rollin' Drum Shinin' Horns and Roll In Yer Shoe, alongside a reading of the traditional God's Gonna Cut You Down and the album Matchstick Blues, whose title track was also issued on its own. The act plays regionally in western Arkansas.
