Rio Da Yung Og

Rio Da Yung OG, born Da'Mario Donshay Horne-McCullough on May 11, 1994, is an American rapper from Flint, Michigan, who has recorded under the name since 2017. He is one of the central figures in the Flint strain of Michigan rap, a style built on blunt, largely hook-free verses delivered conversationally over piano-and-bass beats, with dry humor and street narrative running together in the same line and vocal takes left deliberately unpolished. Mentored early by the Detroit rapper Peezy, he became prolific during a 2019 stretch on house arrest, releasing roughly seven projects inside a year, and broke through with the Dum and Dumber mixtape series made with fellow Flint rapper RMC Mike, beginning with Dumb and Dumb3r and Dum and Dumber Too in 2019 and continuing with Dum N Dumbber 3 in 2021. His 2019 single "Legendary" was certified platinum, and the album City on My Back followed in 2020. He also recorded repeatedly with Louie Ray and YN Jay and helped push the Flint sound toward national attention. Charged federally in February 2019 alongside more than a dozen co-defendants, he pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, surrendered in 2021, and was released on December 11, 2024, having served roughly three years and eight months of a five-year sentence. Much of his scene's national breakthrough happened while he was inside. He recorded the comeback single "Rio Free" within about half a day of walking out and released it that December, then worked through a large backlog of material taped during a subsequent stretch of house arrest. His 2025 mixtape F.L.I.N.T., for "Feeling Like I'm Not Through," is dedicated to his city and leans further into narrative storytelling than his earlier work. He returned to the road in summer 2025 on a 57-date tour that included his first New York shows.
