Rhonda Vincent is an American bluegrass singer, mandolinist, fiddler and bandleader, born Rhonda Lea Vincent on July 13, 1962, in Kirksville, Missouri. She began performing at five with her family's group, the Sally Mountain Show, adding snare drum at six, mandolin at eight and fiddle at twelve, and cut her first single, a version of Mule Skinner Blues, in 1970; the family band toured the Midwest through the 1970s and early 1980s. Encouraged by Grand Ole Opry star Jim Ed Brown, she released her solo debut New Dreams and Sunshine in 1988. Giant Records president James Stroud then signed her for two contemporary country albums, Written in the Stars in 1993 and Trouble Free in 1996, before she returned to bluegrass with Back Home Again on Rounder in 2000, the first record credited to Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, the band she has fronted since. She is widely billed as the Queen of Bluegrass, a reflection of both her mandolin playing and a piercing, precisely pitched lead voice suited to the genre's high harmony. Vincent won the International Bluegrass Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year award seven consecutive times, from 2000 through 2006, and was named IBMA Entertainer of the Year in 2001. All the Rage: Volume One won the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album in 2018. She has recorded with Dolly Parton, Alan Jackson and Faith Hill, among others. She became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in February 2020 and was inducted into the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in September 2025. Her more recent releases include the album A Possibility. She continues to tour full time with the Rage and appears regularly at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
