REZN

rock

REZN is a psychedelic doom metal quartet from Chicago, Illinois, with roughly a decade of activity in heavy music. The band is Rob McWilliams on guitar and vocals, Phil Cangelosi on bass and vocals, Spencer Ouellette on synthesizers, saxophone and lap steel guitar, and Patrick Dunn on drums. Its music sets slow, heavy riffs against psychedelic, prog and shoegaze textures, with Ouellette's synthesizers and horns carrying much of the melodic weight that guitars would normally hold in doom metal. Earlier albums Let It Burn, Calm Black Water and Chaotic Divine established the approach, and Solace followed in 2023. The band then signed to Sargent House, releasing Burden in 2024 and Cycles in the Infinite Dream on the same label in 2026; the latter was recorded at Electrical Audio in Chicago. The newer material leans further into atmosphere, with the band describing celestial melodies and synesthesia-inducing textures drawn from dream states and the subconscious, and citing David Lynch's surrealism alongside Mastodon and Deftones as influences. REZN also keeps a substantial run of collaborative and live records: Silent Future, made with Vinnum Sabbathi and issued through Blues Funeral's Postwax series in 2022; Live at Electrical Audio with Lume; Infected Ambient Works with Catechism; and Live at Ohmstead in 2020. The band tours North American clubs, including MilkBoy in Philadelphia.
