Raynes is a Los Angeles-based folk-pop trio made up of English vocalist and guitarist Mark Race, from Durham, and two North Dakota natives, guitarist Joe Berger of Mandan and multi-instrumentalist and producer Mat Charley of Minot. Charley and Berger met in college and were recording demos when they went looking online for a singer; they found Race through a video he had posted and, within about ten days of first contact, he had flown to Los Angeles to join them. The group describes its sound as expensive folk, layering acoustic guitars, piano, synthesizers, accordion, dulcimer, bouzouki, harmonium and percussion under multi-part harmony, and folds in baroque pop, Americana, Celtic and other world-music textures. Raynes signed a publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing within a year of forming and has since released four EPs and six singles, accumulating millions of streams, hundreds of thousands of monthly listeners and placements in television and advertising. The band played BottleRock Napa Valley in 2025 and has sold out headline rooms in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Its debut full-length album, Radio Remind Me, was announced in mid-2026 alongside the single Roses All Over and is set for release on October 16, 2026; it was co-produced and mixed by the Grammy-winning engineer Chris Sclafani and takes time, memory and nostalgia as its subject. Live, the trio reproduces its layered studio arrangements by trading instruments between songs, with the three-part vocal blend carrying the material.
