Rasputina is an American cello rock band formed in Brooklyn, New York, in 1992 by cellist and vocalist Melora Creager, who assembled the group after advertising for an electric cello choir. Built around massed cellos rather than guitars, the band released its debut Thanks for the Ether on Columbia Records in 1996 and is known for historical lyrical themes and Victorian-influenced staging.
