Piero Pirupa

Piero Pirupa, who records and performs as Pirupa, is an Italian DJ and producer of house, techno and minimal music from Teramo in Abruzzo; his given name is Piero di Gianvito, and he has also recorded as Brain Zoo. His first catalogued release was Put That Shit Up! in 2007, a collaboration with Ruggero for TKC Music. He became prolific at the turn of the 2010s, with a run of records for Snatch! Records, whose catalog he appeared on repeatedly between 2010 and 2012, plus releases for Suara, Suruba Records, Monique Musique, Fino Music and Start Records, and collaborations including Into the Darkness with Hollen for Bitten and Bassline with Leon. He has since issued records on Saved Records, which put out the Pirupa & Friends EP in 2016, as well as Intec Digital, Elrow Music and Toolroom Records. His most widely collected record is We Must Be (That Piano Track), released on Crosstown Rebels in 2018 with vocals by Mr. V, a piano-led house track that became his signature. More recent work includes Que Pasa, a 2024 collaboration with Tom Enzy for Spinnin' Deep. His sets stay on the functional, groove-driven end of house and techno, and he tours internationally, including club dates in the United States such as Larimer Lounge in Denver.
