Phantom

Phantom is a speed and thrash metal band from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, formed in 2021 by guitarist and singer J.C. Garcia, credited on record as Juan Carlos Garcia Gutierrez, who writes and records all of the material himself before it is taken to the stage. The band bills its style as speed metal Nosferatus and works a consistent vein of vampire and horror imagery. Its first releases were self-issued: the demo EP Hellspeed Death (Pt. 1) in July 2022, a longer Hellspeed Death demo that December, the compilation Tapes From the Crypt and the live EP Devil Metal in early 2023, then the singles Handed to Execution, Reaper's Bane and Hold Fast across the spring and summer of 2023. The debut album Handed to Execution arrived in October 2023, followed by the EP Transylvanian Nightmare in April 2024. The band then signed to the German label High Roller Records, which released the second album, Tyrants of Wrath, on April 25, 2025 after the singles Thunderbeast and The Tower of Seth. Tyrants of Wrath runs forty-eight minutes and was recorded and mixed at Nehtron Studios by Hector Northen in late 2024, mastered by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony in Germany, and given cover art by Maegan LeMay. The same team returned for a third album, Not Midnight Yet, issued by High Roller on June 26, 2026 and trailed by the singles Summoned to Kill, Dracula's Curse, The Pale Remains of Time and Out of the Mausoleum. The band has toured beyond Mexico in support of the records, with a July 2026 show at The Flapper in Birmingham, England documented as a live release.
