PawPaw Rod is a Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter working across alternative, funk, pop, R&B and soul. He introduced himself with the 2020 single HIT EM WHERE IT HURTS, a phrase he still carries as a tagline, and has released music at a steady annual pace since: the single Glass House in May 2021 and A PawPaw Rod EP that September; the singles Message (Better Days) and Beautiful in 2022 and Another PawPaw Rod EP that October; and This Must Be A PawPaw Rod EP in October 2023. The singles Hello Dear, Rainy and Shadow arrived across the first half of 2024 and were gathered into Doobie Mouth (An EP From PawPaw Rod), released August 9, 2024. Its seven tracks were produced mostly by Jono Dorr, with Jeff Hazin and Nick Ferraro producing Rainy and Lenno Linjama, Westen Weiss and Leevi Haapanen handling Hello Dear; the EP was mixed by Dacota G Fresilli and mastered by Nik Kozub. He releases the music himself rather than through a label, and tours nationally as a headliner, currently on the Picture Day Tour.
