Ours Samplus
trip hop · electro · electronic
Ours Samplus is a French production project working in instrumental hip hop, trip hop and downtempo, with a catalogue that also draws on jazz sampling and chilled electro. Its earliest widely circulated release is Moose Head, a thirteen-track collaborative album with the producer GrandHuit issued June 27, 2016, with guest turns from Amaterasu and Phileas Fogg. Solo albums followed at a steady pace: the twelve-track Orphan Loops on February 2, 2018; Last Frontier, sixteen tracks running about 53 minutes, on June 11, 2018; the four-piece Poetree, whose title track alone runs more than eight minutes, on December 15, 2019; and the twelve-track Antares on June 19, 2020. Bepolar, released May 12, 2023, is the most recent full-length, fifteen tracks of roughly 53 minutes on which Ours Samplus handled the music, recording, mixing and cover art, with mastering by Phil at Audioblend and guest appearances from Mounika on Morning Sunset and Goomar on First Look. The catalogue also takes in the beat-tape volumes One Day One Beat and One Day One Beat vol. 2, the earlier Capture and Isteri, and Friday Remixes. Everything is self-released and sold directly through the project's own shop and Bandcamp page in vinyl, CD and digital editions, with several vinyl pressings long since sold out.
