Nick Dittmeier & the Sawdusters

Nick Dittmeier & the Sawdusters are an Americana and alt-country trio from Jeffersonville, Indiana, across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky, and the band's writing draws on both sides of that river line. The current lineup is Nick Dittmeier on vocals and guitar, Shelley Anderson on bass and vocals, and Chase Palmer on drums. Their records include Midwest Heart / Southern Blues (2016), All Damn Day, Heavy Denim (2022) and Apparition, which was released on SofaBurn Records in May 2026. Apparition was tracked at Dead Bird Studios in Louisville with engineer Dave Chale over sessions in August 2023 and January 2025, with additional recording at Quilted Window Studios. Aaron Biebelhauser co-produced the album with Dittmeier and played Dobro, pedal steel and keys on it; Josh Bradley drummed on the sessions and Gina C sang on two tracks. J. Tom Hnatow mixed the record and Anderson mastered it at Black Lab Mastering. The ten-song sequence opens with the instrumental Reckless and takes in Revenge, Scratching At Your Back Door, Black Dad / White Mom and the title track, pushing toward a more direct, visceral sound that runs alt-country and Americana through streaks of funk while the lyrics stay with narratives of temptation, displacement and people who are out of place. The band tours steadily in the United States and Europe, and its Midwestern club circuit takes it regularly through Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana rooms.
