Mt. Joy

Mt. Joy is an indie and folk rock band formed in 2016 by Philadelphia high school friends Matt Quinn and Sam Cooper, who reconnected after both moved to Los Angeles. The band takes its name from a hill in Valley Forge National Historical Park, near where the two grew up. The five-piece is completed by Michael Byrnes on bass, Sotiris Eliopoulos on drums and Jackie Miclau on keyboards, with Quinn singing lead and Cooper playing lead guitar. Their early single Astrovan, uploaded before the group had played a show together, brought them attention on streaming services and led to a wider audience. Their self-titled debut album followed in 2018 and its single Silver Lining reached the upper end of Billboard's Triple A chart and was certified platinum in the United States. Rearrange Us arrived in 2020, Orange Blood in 2022, and Hope We Have Fun, released in May 2025 through the band's own Bloom Field Records imprint, features guest turns from Nathaniel Rateliff and Gigi Perez. The band donated first-week profits from Rearrange Us to Campaign Zero and raised money for MusicCares and the Philadelphia hunger relief organization Philabundance through a livestreamed benefit. The self-titled debut reached number 152 on the Billboard 200 and had accumulated close to a billion Spotify streams by 2025, with Rearrange Us peaking at 197 and Hope We Have Fun at 160. Mt. Joy has toured with the Lumineers, Rainbow Kitten Surprise and Greta Van Fleet and appeared at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and the Newport Folk Festival, and now headlines amphitheaters and arenas across the United States.
