Marisa Anderson is an American guitarist and composer based in Portland, Oregon, born in Northern California and raised in Sonoma. Her largely improvised solo work sits in an American primitive and neo-Americana idiom drawing on gospel, country, Appalachian folk, blues, minimalism and drone, and she also plays lap steel and pedal steel. She records for Thrill Jockey and has made collaborative albums with Jim White (The Quickening, Swallowtail) and William Tyler (Lost Futures).
