Mama's Broke is a folk duo from Nova Scotia, Canada, made up of Amy Lou Keeler and Lisa Maria, who trade fiddle, banjo, guitar and mandolin behind close two-part harmony drawn from Eastern Canadian, Appalachian and Irish traditions. The pair came together on the road rather than within a single local scene, and describe a style carried across landscapes instead of tied to one place, a folk-without-borders approach shaped by more than a decade of near-constant touring. A self-titled EP appeared in 2014. Their 2017 debut album Count the Wicked won the Canadian Folk Music Award for Ensemble of the Year, and the 2022 follow-up Narrow Line received a JUNO nomination. Their third album, Reunion, is a twelve-song record released on 28 August 2026 through Free Dirt Records and Forward Music Group. It was recorded near Nashville and keeps the duo's acoustic core largely intact, with restrained bass from Paul Kowert as the main outside contribution; its songs deal with fractured communities and the erosion of shared ground, and the arrangements are stripped back enough that the two voices and the instrument swaps carry most of the weight. The duo tours North America and Europe through 2026 and 2027 behind the record, playing small clubs, DIY spaces and listening rooms; the Reunion album release tour includes a date at the Grey Eagle Music Hall in Asheville, North Carolina.
