Liz Longley

Liz Longley is an American singer-songwriter from Downingtown, Pennsylvania who has been based in Nashville since 2011, working in folk, Americana and pop with gospel-soul inflections. She graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2010, and while still a student won the BMI John Lennon Songwriting Scholarship Competition and the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest. Sugar Hill Records signed her and released her self-titled album in 2015, followed by Weightless in 2016. Her sixth album became the defining episode of her career: with the recording finished but stalled at her label, she launched a Kickstarter campaign in September 2019 to buy back the masters, seeking $45,000 and ultimately raising more than $150,000, which made her the fourth most-funded solo female musician in the platform's history. She self-released the record, Funeral For My Past, in September 2020, and the story of how she regained the rights to her own work was covered by Billboard, Forbes and the Recording Academy. Her most recent album, New Life, arrived on March 21, 2025. It was produced by Grammy-nominated producer Paul Moak at his Smoakstack studio in Nashville, with Fred Eltringham on drums and Tony Lucido on bass, and runs eleven songs. Longley's writing is built on close personal detail and a clear, unforced vocal delivery, and she keeps an unusually direct relationship with her audience, funding and releasing her own records and maintaining a Patreon alongside her touring. She is booked in the United States by New Frontier Touring and plays mostly seated listening rooms and small halls, among them Daniels Hall at Swallow Hill Music in Denver and the Wake Forest Listening Room in North Carolina.
