Lilyisthatyou is the stage name of Lily Davies, a pop singer-songwriter raised in Toronto and now based in Los Angeles. The daughter of two musicians, she was writing her own songs by thirteen and names Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears and Rihanna among her early models. She broke through with the single FMRN, written in a Toronto session in June 2021 with producer Caleb Jacob; a TikTok snippet of it drew more than a million views in 24 hours and prompted a Rolling Stone feature after the platform repeatedly removed the clip. The song was released in 2021 under license to Warner Records, and her debut EP, The Character, followed in 2022. She has since left the major-label system and releases independently, telling interviewers that she still reaches a wide audience without a label behind her. Later work includes the EP Dirt on My Hands and the EP From the Garden I Grew, released August 21, 2026 and trailed by the single Money Can't Buy Happiness. Her records set dance- and festival-oriented pop production against lyrics about insecurity and self-doubt; she has described songwriting as armour, and generally avoids ballads in favor of upbeat arrangements that carry heavier material. Her audience took the name The Garden during her first headlining tour in 2024, after fans brought flowers to the stage, and that gardening imagery has since carried through her EP titles, artwork and the Flowers Have Feelings Tour, her first solo headline run. Her catalog is filed variously as dance-pop, pop rock and alternative rock.
