Kacey Musgraves is an American country and pop singer-songwriter, born August 21, 1988, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, raised in the nearby town of Golden and based in Nashville. She sang in a childhood duo called Texas Two Bits, won national yodeling titles, and placed seventh on the fifth season of Nashville Star in 2007 before moving to Nashville to write songs; she co-wrote Miranda Lambert's 2013 single Mama's Broken Heart. Musgraves signed with Mercury Nashville in 2012, and her major-label debut Same Trailer Different Park (2013), introduced by the single Merry Go 'Round, won the Grammy Award for Best Country Album while Merry Go 'Round won Best Country Song. Its track Follow Your Arrow made her an unusually explicit voice for social liberalism inside mainstream country. Pageant Material followed in 2015 and the holiday record A Very Kacey Christmas in 2016. Her fourth album, Golden Hour (2018), pushed her sound toward soft-focus pop and disco and won Album of the Year at the 2019 Grammy Awards alongside Best Country Album, Best Country Solo Performance for Butterflies and Best Country Song for Space Cowboy. Star-Crossed, written after her divorce, arrived in 2021, and Deeper Well in 2024. She won a Grammy in 2024 for I Remember Everything, her duet with Zach Bryan, and another in 2025 as a writer of The Architect. In April 2025 she became the first artist signed to the relaunched Lost Highway Records, which released her seventh album, Middle of Nowhere, on May 1, 2026. She co-wrote all thirteen tracks and produced the record with Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk, with guest appearances from Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Billy Strings and Gregory Alan Isakov, and led it with the single Dry Spell. The supporting Middle of Nowhere Tour opened in August 2026 and runs into early 2027 across arenas in North America and Europe.
