Johnnyswim is an American folk, soul and pop duo of Amanda Sudano and Abner Ramirez, formed in Nashville in 2005. Sudano, born in 1982, is the daughter of Donna Summer and songwriter Bruce Sudano; Ramirez grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and trained at the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. The two met after a church service in Nashville and began writing together after Sudano attended a songwriting workshop Ramirez was leading; they married in 2009 and have three children. They released a self-titled EP independently in 2008 and several more EPs over the following years before their first full-length, Diamonds, arrived in 2014 and held the top of Billboard's singer-songwriter chart for several weeks. Georgica Pond followed in 2016, Moonlight in 2019, a second self-titled album in 2022 and When the War Is Over in 2025. Their song Home was adopted as the theme for the HGTV series Fixer Upper, announced at the end of 2014, and the association with Chip and Joanna Gaines later produced two Magnolia Network series, Home on the Road with Johnnyswim and The Johnnyswim Show, both in 2021. The pair published a joint memoir, Home Sweet Road, in June 2021. Earlier career appearances included A Prairie Home Companion in 2012 and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in 2013. Their live sets are built around the two voices in close harmony, Ramirez on guitar and piano, with between-song storytelling about their marriage and family that has become a fixture of the shows.
