John Depew

John Depew is an American progressive bluegrass, folk, and roots multi-instrumentalist and songwriter based in Reno County, Kansas. The 2022 Kansas State Mandolin Champion and winner of the 2021 Walnut Valley Festival NewSong Showcase, Depew performs on mandolin, clawhammer banjo, bouzouki, and guitar. Fronting the John Depew Trio (alongside banjoist Peter Oviatt and bassist Calvin Bennett), he explores narrative songwriting on acclaimed albums including Yellow Threads and Bell of Hope, performing across Midwest folk stages including the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas.
