The John Cowan Trio is led by bassist and singer John Cowan, best known as the lead vocalist and bass player of New Grass Revival, which he joined in 1972 and with which he was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in 2020. Cowan also played bass with the Doobie Brothers in the 1990s and returned as a touring member in 2010, and has recorded solo albums for labels including Sugar Hill.
