Jimmie Dale Gilmore is a country and progressive country singer-songwriter born in 1945 in Amarillo, Texas, and raised in Lubbock. He co-founded The Flatlanders with Joe Ely and Butch Hancock in 1972, a group whose early recordings were reissued in 1990 as More a Legend Than a Band. His solo albums include Spinning Around the Sun, Braver Newer World and One Endless Night, and he has received three Grammy nominations.
