JD Smith is an American bassist, guitarist, and jam musician based in Asheville, North Carolina. A fixture in Western North Carolina's roots and jam scene, Smith has performed as the bassist for Appalachian bluegrass outfit the Bald Mountain Boys and contributes to regional Grateful Dead tribute showcases, including Bob Weir Birthday Celebrations at The Grey Eagle in Asheville.
