Jason Scott & The High Heat

americana · rock · roots

Jason Scott & The High Heat is an Oklahoma City Americana band fronted by singer-songwriter Jason Scott, a former Pentecostal youth and worship pastor whose writing carries that background into secular roadhouse material. The five-piece is Scott on lead vocals and guitar, Gabriel Mor on guitars, Garrison Brown on guitars and keys, Ryan Magnani on bass and Bobby Wade on drums. The band's debut album, Castle Rock, arrived in 2022 and laid out its mix of country storytelling and rock instrumentation. The five-song EP High Country Heat followed on 25 October 2024, tracked at Lunar Manor in Oklahoma City and at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, and collecting High Country, Me & the Bottle (Hungover You), Bernadette, If We Make It Til the Mornin' and Natalie; Scott described those songs as a reflection of the landscapes, people and emotions that formed his world view, and said he wanted the EP to feel like home. The full-length American Grin was released on 28 March 2025 through the Nashville label Leo33, produced by former bandmate Taylor Johnson and cut in Oklahoma City and the Texas borderlands. It widens the palette, setting roadhouse country, heartland rock and Southern soul against ZZ Top-style boogie and mariachi color, with Scott framing the record as an attempt to be playful during a serious time and to write about the absurdity of American life. A further album, Playboy, has since been announced. The band tours the southern plains and Midwest, including dates at The Bottleneck in Lawrence, Kansas.
