Jack Hadley

Jack Hadley is a blues and soul guitarist, singer and songwriter based in Boulder, Colorado. He describes his own playing as sitting on the soul end of the blues and names B.B. King, Robert Cray, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan among his reference points; his repertoire also reaches into folk and jazz. Hadley has released four full-length albums of original material. The St. Louis Sessions came out in October 2014 on San Telmo Media, and Daybreak in Alabama: The Langston Hughes Project followed in July 2020, setting Hadley's own music to the poetry of Langston Hughes with bassist Bill Rich, drummer Bill Larson and jazz guitarist Rich Gibbins. The St. Louis Sessions, Vol. II arrived in April 2024, recorded at Casa Del Torretta, a St. Louis studio where Chuck Berry once worked, with Bob Lohr on piano, Terry Coleman on bass and Keith Robinson and Chris Miller on drums. Hadley has said that adding keyboards to what is normally a guitar, bass and drums trio gave those sessions more room and a fuller sound. In Colorado he works mainly in that trio format or solo, playing clubs, hotels and listening rooms along the Front Range, and he has performed with singer Hazel Miller and with the Mike Maurer Band. He has also appeared abroad, backed by the St. Louis Blues All-Stars at the Rauma Blues Festival in Finland. Hadley serves on the board of the Roots Music Project, a Boulder nonprofit music incubator supporting blues, jazz, bluegrass and Americana artists.
